Meet the Owner:

Elijah Combs

“I grew up in Tacoma - Washington’s smallest big city. Big enough to offer opportunities and small enough to feel like home. I was an adventurous young man, and always seemed to be working with my hands. I didn’t come from much, which motivated me to work hard. I did everything I could to be the first person in my extended family to attend and graduate from college.

Fast forward a few years, I puttered around woodworking while in college, sharing stuff I made with friends, family, and occasional paying customers. By graduation time, faced with a decision to get 40-hour a week job, I looked back at what motivated me: Woodworking. Custom woodworking.

I took the leap, turned my one-car garage into a wood shop, and started creating. The more I created, the more I fell in love with the craft and intricacies that turns a piece of furniture into a stunning piece of functional art. But I needed training from an established craftsman.”

“I discovered a highly successful custom woodworking business in Ellensburg: AM Woodworking & Design. After researching his elegant work, I asked owner Aaron Munson to hire me as an apprentice. He agreed, but told me I’d put in a lot of grunt work.

I soaked up Aaron’s artistry and woodworking skills for 2-½ years, earning a pittance while supplementing my income tending bar. He was hard, a perfectionist who didn’t tolerate mistakes and lackluster work, the ideal place to build and hone my skills. By the time I left Ellensburg, I was ready to start my own company.

Now in Boise, Idaho, E.B. Woodworking & Design offers classic replicas to stylized custom-designed furniture that can be lovingly passed down generation to generation. We work with every kind of available wood, from plywood to difficult-to-find exotic hardwoods. Every commission is as unique as the customer who brings it to me, their imagination, their specific furniture needs and our collaboration.

We replace every day, factory-made stand byes with highly functional, one-of-a-kind, attention-demanding fine art.

My name is Elijah Combs. My passion is custom woodworking. I own and create at E.B. Woodwork & Design.”
